The factors of a number are the numbers that divide it evenly. The factors of \(9\) are \(1,3,\) and \(9\) because they all divide \(9.\) The number \(5\) is not a factor of \(9\) because when \(5\) divides into \(9\) it leaves a remainder of \(4.\)

\(12 / 7 = 1 r 5\)
